Transmission

2016

Acrylics painting on canvas, wire, cardboard

This installation visually illustrates different ways of transmitting musical data/signal from digital instrument to computational device, then to our brain. The installation consists of three paintings. Each painting represents one device/container that stores and transmits musical data; and each connects one another in different ways.

The most front one, which locates at the bottom right in the showing image, illustrates the process in digital piano. As the music being played and recorded, the musical data transmit to the next stage- a software application platform able to adjust and produce music. The last, which is the top painting, shows how our brain receives the musical signal from previous stages.
